The eighties were dominated by numerous creative car models, sprouted from the passion of engineers who wanted to make something different than modal middle class cars for Mr. everybody.
This resulted in some nice projects, which fortunately did not always disappear in the wastepaper basket. Hot Hatches were ubiquitous in the Golden Eighties, offering their owners thrills that were only reserved for the happy few who could afford themselves a real sports car.
Volkswagen kicked off the spear in the mid-seventies with the creation of the Golf GTI, the icon of the fast hatchback for decades now!
Starting with the second generation, Volkswagen shifted up a gear to maintain its leading position in the segment. The GTI 16V further boosted the engine potential and once again secured the Golf its leading position in the segment.
The Golf 2 GTI 16V that we offer is a very special example. It is one from a limited edition of only 1000 copies. The Golf GTI 16V Silverstone was built exclusively for the Swiss market and is distinguished by a number of striking features, such as the reflective band between the smoked tail lights, specific 15 “aluminum rims, sunroof and a decorative striping and specific Silverstone-logo. The Silverstone edition is also equipped with the unique digital dashboard, and it works fine in this car! This GTI 16V Silverstone has been equipped with some nice extras by the previous owner, with a screwed roll cage, bucket seats and harness belts. The car was never used for competition purposes, but it has everything a driver could want from it. Both the bodywork and the mechanics are in good condition, with minor signs of wear. This Golf GTI drives as it should and communicates clearly with the driver about his intentions.
Pure nostalgia, this muscular hatchback, a collector’s item that deserves a place with a true enthusiast!
